Goddess of Victory: Nikke's Windows PC launcher suffered a malware infection after third-party tampering of launcher files. Shift Up and publisher Level Infinite confirmed the security incident on September 27th at 15:41 UTC+9. Players who launched the game after that date may have had their PCs and account information exposed to security risks.
Level Infinite rolled out a patch and added a malware scanning feature to the official PC client. The publisher advised affected players to run security scans, change passwords for all accounts used on the infected PC, and generate new API keys and access tokens for external services.
"We have identified that some files in the NIKKE Windows PC launcher were recently tampered with by a third party, potentially allowing malicious programs to run when the launcher was launched," the developers stated. Level Infinite said it is investigating the extent of damage and reviewing how CDN files were compromised. The studio plans to implement integrity verification for external resources, improve monitoring for unauthorized modifications, and limit launcher permissions to minimum levels.
Players who believe they were affected can contact customer support for assistance.
