The Legend of Khiimori received The Mongolian Expanse update, which expands the game's map to include previously inaccessible snowy mountains and scorching deserts. Each region contains waystations, Yam nodes, named places, chests, and bandit caches.
The mountains present cold temperatures and difficult climbing, with hostile wolves. The desert is extremely hot for both player and horse. Both environments function as environmental challenges similar to temperature mechanics in Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The update adds new wildlife including wild boars, gobi bears, and camels. A new horse breed called the Marwari joins the roster, described as "built for endurance and especially resistant to heat, a strong partner for long, punishing Desert crossings." The update includes more than 60 new horse skills specific to regions and breeds.
The developer notes this marks only the first part of the mountains and desert additions, with more content planned for these zones. The update includes additional tweaks, additions, and fixes beyond the map expansion and new animals.
