Bloomberg reported that Ubisoft is in talks with Microsoft to acquire Arkane Lyon, the studio developing Marvel's Blade. Microsoft divested Arkane earlier this year and is exploring options including selling the studio back to its management or to another buyer.
Ubisoft is one of three companies that have submitted bids for Arkane Lyon, though the other two bidders remain unnamed. If no deal closes by December, the studio faces shutdown.
Both Arkane and Ubisoft are based in France, making an acquisition logical on paper. However, Ubisoft is currently undergoing major restructuring in 2026, including recent layoffs at Ubisoft Singapore and potential closure of RedLynx.
Marvel's Blade was announced at The Game Awards in December 2023. Reports indicate the game is close to completion and could launch in Q4 2027 if development continues under a new publisher.
