Maddy Thorson confirmed that Celeste and TowerFall have been removed from the Xbox Store to support the BDS boycott against Microsoft. Both games remain available on PlayStation and Nintendo storefronts.
The BDS movement called for the boycott of Microsoft and Xbox over the company providing AI software to the Israeli military. Microsoft confirmed it supplies this software, which was used to target Palestinian civilians. The company remains on the BDS boycott list because it continues to provide email, file management systems, and services for "combat and intelligence activities" to the Israeli military.
House House, developer of Big Walk, also announced the game will not launch on Xbox to support the boycott. Developer Origame Digital made a statement against the genocide in their latest game, Penguin's Colony.
