Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and Silver Lake are pursuing an acquisition of Unity Software, according to Reuters. The consortium acquired Electronic Arts for $55 billion earlier this year. Silver Lake already owns roughly 8% of Unity after investing around $400 million in 2017 and has a board seat through executive Egon Durban. Reuters reports negotiations value Unity at about $25 billion, though Unity's latest earnings showed higher-than-expected profits. Unity posted its first quarterly profit on a GAAP basis since going public in September 2020, driven partly by growth in its Vector advertising platform powered by AI. After EA's acquisition closed, the company underwent mass layoffs and took on $18 billion in debt.
