The Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2 adds a manual jump button that is frustrating veterans of the original N64 game. In the classic version, Link jumped automatically when running off a platform edge. The remake requires players to press a button to jump, breaking decades of muscle memory for longtime fans.

Players report repeatedly falling into chasms and water because they expect the automatic jump to trigger. One player stated they have not experienced deadly falls yet, as water or nearby floors usually catch them, but acknowledged dangers await in later levels. The journalist noted they haven't played the original in over a decade and never tried the 3DS remake, yet still instinctively expect Link to jump when stepping off ledges.

Multiple players on social media have shared the same issue, with one calling it proof of being a veteran player. The remake does make some changes to ease gameplay, though the jump button appears to have the opposite effect for experienced players adjusting to the new control scheme.
