FromSoftware shut down multiplayer services for Dark Souls 2 and 3 on October 30 due to an undisclosed "server issue." The closure affects invasions, co-op, and messages across all platforms for both games. The company said it would provide an updated timeline for restoration once it gathered more information.
This differs from a 2022 incident when a remote code execution vulnerability forced PC servers for all Dark Souls games offline for months. This time, only Dark Souls 2 and 3 are affected, and the issue extends to all platforms rather than just PC.
PC players can still access co-op through Yui's Seamless co-op mod, which runs on separate servers. Dark Souls 2 received the mod in late September, while Dark Souls 3 already had it available.
