Cyberpunk 2077 modders have rapidly extended the pistol dual wielding mechanic from the Edgerunners 2 update to work with shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, and other weapons. Three mods released within 24 hours of the update accomplish this: Dual Wield Anything by E3roKK, Dual Wield Anything and Everything for 2.5 by Jollywankers, and Expanded Dual Wielding by JericoHellden.
JericoHellden's mod adds independent firing controls for each weapon, allowing players to fire guns separately rather than using the default automatic alternation. Dederara released Independent Pistol Controls (Dual Wielding) for players who want independent fire controls limited to pistols.
CD Projekt Red restricted official dual wielding to pistols to prevent the mechanic from trivializing combat difficulty. JericoHellden described the expanded dual wielding as a "janky and wildly overpowered" experience. E3roKK warned that animations become "clippy or awkward" when dual wielding larger weapons.
Melee dual wielding remains incomplete across these mods and is treated as an unfinished afterthought. The mods require Cyber Engine Tweaks, with Expanded Dual Wielding also needing Redscript.
