Rockstar Games says Grand Theft Auto 6's total landmass nearly equals the combined playable space of GTA 4, GTA 5, and Red Dead Redemption 2. The studio previously stated the game is roughly three times bigger than GTA 5.

Co-studio head Aaron Garbut told Edge Magazine that the finer details set GTA 6 apart, particularly its "order of magnitude more interiors" compared to previous games. He said every back alley is densely detailed and interesting, noting that team members continue finding new rooms they've never seen before.

Rockstar hand-crafted every room in the game. During Edge's preview session, one example emerged: a dog left alone in a house that made a mess. When entering, the character Jason recoils at the smell. The studio expanded this beyond a one-time reaction. Both characters now express visible disgust when taken to certain locations.

Rockstar told Bloomberg the game contains "hundreds" of interiors to explore. The studio gave artists significant freedom in designing spaces, which Garbut said expanded what was possible.

GTA 6 launches November 19th for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.
