Rockstar canceled Agent, a PlayStation-exclusive spy game announced at E3 2009, according to Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games. The project was developed under oversight from Houser and his brother Sam, the other Rockstar founder.

In an interview with IGN, Houser reflected on the cancellation, noting that unreleased games are not uncommon in his career. He stated he worked on "a bunch of games that never came out," positioning Agent among Rockstar's various unfinished projects. The executive did not provide specific reasons for why Agent failed to reach completion or launch.

The partnership between Sony and Rockstar represented a significant exclusive deal for PlayStation during the mid-2000s development cycle. Agent's spy-game focus contrasted with Rockstar's primary franchise, Grand Theft Auto, which was then dominated by the success of GTA 4, released in 2008. The exclusive arrangement suggested Sony's confidence in Rockstar's ability to deliver a high-profile title for its platform.

No release date was ever announced for Agent during its development window, and the project eventually faded from public discussion. Houser's recent comments appear to be among the first direct acknowledgments from Rockstar leadership regarding the game's fate. The cancellation remains one of gaming's notable lost exclusives, representing a major collaboration that ultimately produced no final product for consumers.
