Data firm Sensor Tower estimates Grand Theft Auto 6 has already sold 7.71 million copies through pre-orders alone, generating an estimated $751 million in revenue. The report shows 74 percent of those sales on PlayStation 5 and 26 percent on Xbox Series X/S, with 5.74 million copies pre-ordered on PS5 compared to 1.97 million on Xbox.

Sensor Tower noted an uptick in pre-order rates following an extended gameplay reveal on Netflix. Sony's exclusive marketing campaign for GTA 6 appears to have contributed to the PlayStation advantage, alongside the lower base price of PS5 versus Xbox Series X.

The 7.71 million pre-order figure already exceeds Cyberpunk 2077's roughly 8 million pre-orders ahead of its 2020 launch. Financial services firm Piper Sandler predicts 45 million total sales during GTA 6's launch window. GTA 5 generated over $800 million during its first 24 hours.
