GTA 6 launches November 19, and playing it requires spending significantly more than console prices at launch. The Xbox Series S costs $500, up $200 from its 2020 launch price. The Xbox Series X runs $750 without a disc drive or $800 with one. PlayStation 5's digital edition costs $600, while the PS5 Pro reaches $900. Certified refurbished options are cheaper. Sony offers refurbished PS5 consoles at $500, and Microsoft sells refurbished Xbox Series S units for $400.

The game itself costs $80 for the standard edition or $100 for the Ultimate Edition, which includes cosmetics and in-game shops unavailable in the standard version. GTA 5 launched at $60 in 2013, which adjusts to about $85 for inflation today. Preorders include the Vintage Vice City Pack and a free month of GTA+.

GTA 6 is digital-only. Preloading begins November 12, a full week before launch. The game weighs 201GB and requires an internet connection to install. Code-in-a-box copies become available at physical retailers November 12, though the game does not unlock until November 19.

Rockstar and Take-Two have not confirmed whether PlayStation Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscriptions are required for launch. GTA 6 contains only single-player content at launch. A version of GTA Online may release in early 2027, which would likely require a subscription at that time.

The game is not coming to Switch 2. Rockstar expects a PC version in early 2027.
