Phantom Blade Zero’s Lead Voice Actor Was Seemingly Replaced At The Last Minute

Roger Craig Smith has replaced Jay Maksenuk as the voice of Soul in Phantom Blade Zero. Maksenuk voiced the protagonist in promotional materials, but Smith took over the role for the final release that launched earlier this week. S-Game has not explained the reason for the change.

Smith is known for voicing Sonic the Hedgehog, Batman, Ezio Auditore in multiple Assassin's Creed titles, Daigo Dojima in Yakuza Kiwami 3, and Alden Dorne in Call of Duty Black Ops 7. According to Game Informer, the swap appears to have happened shortly after the game's review period began.

Phantom Blade Zero reached over 730,000 concurrent players on Steam at the time of reporting.
