Phantom Blade Zero launched today with a day one patch totaling 5GB. The update improves ray tracing and path tracing performance and addresses several bug fixes, according to a Steam blog post. Players who pre-loaded the game must download and install the update before launching.
The developer states it spent considerable time refining the game's rasterized visuals to maintain art direction with ray tracing disabled, and the game targets mid-range and lower-end PCs as well as handhelds. Some players have reported performance issues on the game's discussion page.
The studio also flagged a performance problem with NVIDIA's latest 617.42 driver. It recommends players use driver version 617.42 with a clean installation and stay on that version until NVIDIA releases its next update, which the team expects soon. The game requires 145GB on disk, expanding to 300GB during installation.
