Wizards of the Coast revealed Marvel Darkhold Destiny at New York Comic Con today, marking the first Universes Beyond expansion set for Magic: The Gathering in 2027. The set features Marvel characters including Doctor Strange, Thor, and Ghost Rider battling cosmic villains like Hela and Dormammu.
Darkhold Destiny will release in normal and Collector booster packs alongside four pre-constructed commander decks. The decks center on Marvel heroes and villains, with one themed around the Midnight Sons. During an hour-long panel, designers showcased multiple cards from the set, including Magic, which transforms into Darkchild, along with Gargantos and the Darkhold itself.
The set tells an original story developed collaboratively by designers at both Marvel and Wizards of the Coast. This represents the latest collaboration between the card game publisher and Marvel Entertainment under the Universes Beyond banner, which brings non-Magic intellectual property into Magic: The Gathering expansions.
