Blizzard is skipping seasonal content for Diablo 4's next season to focus development entirely on the Lord of Hatred expansion. The studio confirmed that players won't get new mechanics, themes, or traditional seasonal additions when the next season launches alongside the expansion.

This mirrors what happened with the Vessel of Hatred expansion, where the seasonal cycle shifted to accommodate the larger content drop. Blizzard's decision trades short-term seasonal variety for the expansion's scope, betting that Lord of Hatred delivers enough fresh material to justify the trade-off.

The move makes business sense for Blizzard. Expansions drive engagement and spending more reliably than seasonal gimmicks. However, it reveals the studio's resource constraints. A well-staffed live service should deliver both meaningful seasonal content and major expansions. Instead, Diablo 4 players get one or the other.

This isn't a broken launch or predatory monetization. It's honest prioritization. But it sets expectations clearly. If Lord of Hatred fails to justify this decision, Blizzard will hear about it. The expansion needs to deliver substantially more than a typical season to make skipping one feel worthwhile.
