Silica, a hybrid FPS and RTS developed by Martin Melichárek at Bohemia Interactive, has launched version 1.0 on Steam after leaving early access. The game combines first-person combat with real-time strategy commanding, set on a planet where two factions compete to mine a valuable resource while fighting off alien creatures.
The 1.0 update introduces the Centauri Campaign, a story-driven single-player experience featuring a cinematic intro, fully voiced mission briefings, in-game dialogue, and a 3D planetary globe that tracks territorial changes during the war for Baltarus. Commander controls have expanded to include unit formations, precise movement and attack orders, and the ability to select all units of the same type. AI targeting and vehicle movement have improved for large-scale battles.
The update adds 1v1 matchmaking between commanders. Steam Workshop sandbox tools have been expanded for building and sharing custom scenarios. The patch also includes bug fixes and quality-of-life improvements.
