Raw Power Games, a studio founded by veteran developers from The Witcher 3, Total War: Three Kingdoms, and Crusader Kings III, lost its funding last week. The studio called on players to support Chronicles: Medieval, their debut historical strategy game still in development, by adding it to Steam Wishlists and discussing the project publicly.
The studio stated in its announcement that it was not "going down without a fight" and hinted at talks with potential new investors. Chronicles: Medieval was unveiled last year with a trailer narrated by Tom Hardy and was described as being close to its planned early access launch.
The response to the funding call remains unclear. Chronicles: Medieval does not appear on Steam's Top Wishlisted games list. According to SteamDB, the game ranks 26th in their wishlist rankings, showing no change from its position before the announcement. The game's Steam follower count increased by over 1,000 in the week following the announcement, a larger gain than surrounding games in the list.
Chronicles: Medieval combines Mount & Blade-style battles with an RPG-flavored strategy layer. Players create a custom character who climbs the social hierarchy of 14th century England.
