Dave Bautista has gained 20 pounds of muscle to play Kratos in Prime Video's God of War series, bringing his weight to 250 pounds ahead of filming resuming soon. The 55-year-old actor revealed the bulk-up on Instagram Story after slimming down in recent months. He'd previously stated he needed two months to prepare for the role.
Bautista replaces original Kratos actor Ryan Hurst, who sustained a bicep tear injury that forced him to leave the production. Hurst required months of rehabilitation, prompting Amazon to quickly recruit Bautista as his replacement.
The God of War series adapts the 2018 soft reboot of the game franchise. It will follow Kratos and his son Atreus, played by Callum Vinson, as they travel across the nine realms. Amazon has ordered two seasons.
