Brian Clarke, developer of The Mortuary Assistant, released Playable Archive this week as a free Halloween game. The project is a 30-minute found-footage horror experience drawn from Clarke's cancelled Paranormal Activity game.
Playable Archive takes its name from the Playable Teaser created for Hideo Kojima's cancelled Silent Hill game. Clarke's larger Paranormal Activity project did not reach completion, but this extracted segment found new life as a standalone release timed for Halloween.
In an interview with Eurogamer, Clarke discussed the cancellation of his original game, the decision to repurpose material from it, and the possibility of returning to The Mortuary Assistant with a new entry.
