Paolo Pedercini, developer of the ecosocialist satire game Future? No Thanks!, disclosed that he used generative AI tools during development despite holding strong critiques of the technology. According to Pedercini, "a tiny fraction of its code was written with AI support" toward the end of the project, specifically to assess and fix bugs. The game also uses ElevenLabs text-to-speech software for a couple of characters, which Pedercini says are spoofs of wonky artificial intelligence. Pedercini stated that none of the game's art or writing is AI-generated. The disclosure came weeks after the game's Steam release, which faced delays due to Valve's concerns about sexual material. The game's storepage now includes a genAI disclosure, though it did not at launch.
