Helldivers 2 is getting a Warhammer 40,000 crossover as its next Legendary Warbond. Arrowhead Game Studios announced the collaboration during the latest Warhammer Skulls presentation, bringing Games Workshop's grimdark universe to the studio's hit co-op shooter.

The crossover will offer thematic cosmetics and gear inspired by the Warhammer 40K setting. However, Arrowhead won't include actual Space Marines as playable characters or skins. Instead, the Warbond will feature Warhammer 40K aesthetics adapted for Helldivers 2's core gameplay loop, where players fight alien threats as elite soldiers of the Helldivers corps.

This partnership makes strategic sense. Helldivers 2 has become a major success for Sony Interactive Entertainment since its February 2024 launch on PlayStation 5 and PC. The game's live-service model relies on regular cosmetic Warbonds to maintain player engagement, and combining the property with a franchise as culturally dominant as Warhammer 40K expands appeal beyond the core shooter audience.

Warhammer 40K's aesthetic of industrial warfare, gothic architecture, and brutal combat aligns naturally with Helldivers 2's tone. Players already fight in harsh alien environments wearing advanced military gear. Adding Warhammer's signature visual language through weapon skins, armor patterns, and cosmetic touches requires minimal mechanical disruption while delivering maximum fanservice.

The collaboration emerges during a busy period for Warhammer games.
